In nearly every flow or vinyasa yoga practice, you’re almost guaranteed to move through a Sun Salutation A, B, or C series. We practice Sun Salutations to warm up the body preparing ourselves for a deeper connection with the body’s arising sensations. To this day, in every.single.class that I teach, I use some form of Sun Salutation at the beginning of class to help my students step into the space of their practice, set their intentions, and feel—it also acts as a way to tune in to the body while tuning out everything else that is going on.
