Portland, Oregon Reboot

Portland, Oregon Reboot

What an incredible walk down memory lane spending the weekend in Portland! We brought our walking shoes (when we lived here we both sold our cars) and got ready to reacquaint ourselves with the Rose City. Every day we’ve wandered what feels like all of Portland, checking out the new development and eating and drinking our way through each neighborhood. In summary, Portland is still as weird as ever—if not more than before. The food industry continues to thrive. We encountered twice as many beer bars as before which is hard to imagine, but true.

Travel Series: Lima + Cusco, Peru

Travel Series: Lima + Cusco, Peru

About a year ago, almost to the day, I attended a Yin Yoga and Meditation training with Yoga Medicine in Peru. I've wanted to visit Peru for quite some time, and the combination of yoga training was definitely the incentive I needed to book the trip. As with most of my longer international trips, Justin usually travels with me before or after so that we can explore and enjoy together. For Peru, we decided to spend the week before the training took place exploring: Lima, Cusco, and the Sacred Valley, and to see Machu Picchu of course. Read on to learn from our lessons and plan your next trip!

Travel Series: Family Vacay in Sunriver, Oregon

Travel Series: Family Vacay in Sunriver, Oregon

A couple weekends ago, my husband, Justin, and I took a trip up to Sunriver, Oregon. Annually, his family gets together for a week with limited plans to unwind from the busyness of our daily lives and spend quality time together: making delicious meals at home, enjoying fierce competitions of table tennis, sardines (a must!), and a plethora of outdoor activities. We pack in the whole family: in total, we are usually twelve piled into a giant house which makes for great fun!

Travel Series: Glamping in Guerneville - Russian River, CA

Since I've had a low-key obsession with glamping ever since I first heard the term, it was high time to check it out. Then, I found a spot that was just an hour and a half from the Bay Area and the deal was sealed! This trip was a little pleasure and a little business, I took the hubs for a belated birthday getaway and to see if it would be good for future retreats. Win-win!

Do You (Yoga) Fest?

Do You (Yoga) Fest?

For the last five years or so, I have thoroughly enjoyed everything festivals have to offer; from the food, to the people, music, art, and activities. Festivals are a great opportunity to really step outside of the ol’ comfort zone.

My festival experience began with Wanderlust, a pretty well-known yoga festival hosted in ten different locations across North America.

Lessons From My First Yoga Retreat

Lessons From My First Yoga Retreat

I can vividly remember having a conversation with my momma in 2011 when I first told her I was enrolled in yoga teacher training and how I might be able to combine my love of travel and yoga into offering yoga retreats. My husband and I both love to host get togethers, creating experiences for our friends and family to commune and spend time together. With all of this, leading retreats feels like such a dream come true. We learned a lot leading this first retreat, and I can't wait for many more to come.

Our first retreat was a wild success by any measure, but every event offers its own learnings. Here is what I’ll be changing up a bit for our Coastal Glamping yoga retreat in the fall.

Check out my learnings below.

Dreams Do Come True

Dreams Do Come True

Our Joshua Tree weekend was pure magic and a dream come true.

After years of learning and growing as a teacher, I have arrived at a place to expand my offering. Leading retreats and creating a community to call home has been a long time goal of mine. The potency of dedicated time to focus on self-care and tuning into our intuition is beyond measure. Much of my personal transformational learning and growth has come from a combination of travel and training in retreats. Read on for more….
