Feeding our babes comes with its own set of challenges, everything says breast is best and the mom guilt is beyond real when we even consider formula. Early on, Bea and I had a few challenges and one middle of the night feeding required formula and I felt devastated that I couldn’t provide for my little one. Why are we so hard on ourselves?! Ultimately though, we’ve been able to breastfeed, so this blog post will cover things have helped in that region.
Renew: Stepping onto the Mat in 2021
The word that embodies my focus for 2021 is renew. 2020 brought a lot of personal change, with the welcoming of our daughter, Beatrice. I allowed myself to shift priorities; a singular focus of getting know this new being and stepping into my new role as a mother. Now that I’m feeling more like myself and (kinda) getting the hang of being a new parent, I’m ready to renew my focus on health and wellness.
Savor + Protect
The dramatic shift in lifestyle leading up birth and now has proven to be ripe for savoring the simple things. After Bea was born, I thought I’d be able to hop right back into everything I was doing before getting pregnant: workouts, to-do lists, running the household, hanging out with friends… you know, normal life. I can now admit that was a bit naive on my part (insert joke about being a first time mom). What I have found is that erasing my to-do list, at the encouragement of my therapist, I have settled into a slower pace. It’s as if the weight of that list has been lifted and now we can slow wayyy down.
A Journey Through Pregnancy: How to Feel (Mostly) Good
Being pregnant is no easy task, ask any woman who has experienced it herself and her partner that has supported her throughout the evolving changes—simply put, it’s hard. By any measure, my pregnancy has been a relatively easy one but that doesn’t mean it’s been all sunshine and rainbows, hardly!
I’ve found a few things that have been integral to helping me find comfort and feeling as good as I possibly can during this pregnancy both physically and mentally. None of these are sponsored and all are directly from my personal Amazon orders; they are tried and true—having made a BIG difference in how I feel throughout this pregnancy.

Self-care Is an Inside Job
Shit got real this week, didn’t it? I’m currently sitting in week four of working from home and sheltering-in-place hard, coming fresh off another update that I’ve been instructed to work from home through May 4th; nearly two full months of what feels like isolation. If I’m being completely honest, it felt like yet another blow of living in this new normal. I realize I’m not alone in these feelings either. By now, most of us have had big plans interrupted, delayed, or even cancelled. So much of the way we celebrate and mark the progress of our lives has been erased. We’re really feeling the impact of COVID-19 both personally and more broadly as a nation—no longer can we ignore the implications and our responsibility in the broader landscape.
Everything is Temporary: And Other Lessons
Well hello there! I’m crawling out of my first-trimester-induced exhaustion and feeling so full of love and gratitude for this community we’ve built. With so many changes that have taken place thus far in 2020, the one constant has been showing up and serving my students; no matter what. It’s been a source of deep fulfillment, even when the last thing I wanted to do was peel my buns off the couch. Teaching you gives me purpose. I feel a deep sense of responsibility to my students to show up and hold space. If you’re reading this, thank you for allowing me to be your teacher and for accepting me so completely.
Pregnancy is both incredible and wildly humbling. Through the last few weeks, I’ve been reminded of so many lessons that are far too easy to take for granted. If you care to indulge me, read on.
Goals: How to Stick With Them
Goals. Some goals are long-term some goals or short-term; some goals are goals that we're not even sure why they might be goals. But the fact of the matter is that goals present themselves everywhere, regardless of your industry or lifestyle, you are usually working toward something. So, how can we more effectively work toward our goals?
What does YogaPlay mean?
If you’ve been around for awhile you may be wondering about the meaning behind YogaPlay. After nearly a decade of teaching yoga, I’ve found that most of my learning has come from a genuine curiosity in the body’s abilities. There was a time when I took my practice so-very-seriously and tried to walk the narrow path of what I thought a yogi should be and do. But somewhere along the line, I decided to throw out the rule book and walk my own path and do my very best to enjoy every minute of it.
YogaPlay was born out of a relentless desire to challenge my body within the realm of yoga and this long honored practice.
